How It Works is a clay and metal sculpture, the result of a process of research into the Roman city of Pompeii, and how its archaeological deposits impacted on the political and erotic imagination of Early Modern Europe. As with many of Jess Flood-Paddock’s works, the starting point for the project was a book found in Foyle’s bookshop.
