— Toby Huddlestone

Inert Gas Series: Box

Toby Huddlestone’s Inert Gas Series: Box consists of a recorded telephone conversation from 2005 between Huddlestone’s collaborator Julian Claxton and US conceptual artist Robert Barry. They discuss the original location of Barry’s Inert Gas Series: Krypton (1969) and Huddlestone’s attempt to remake the work.

Versions (Pressure Drop)

Toby Huddlestone’s performance Versions (Pressure Drop), performed with David Martin, carries on the artist’s interest in presenting research, ideas and thoughts as lectures, a format usually reserved for presenting conclusive knowledge. Versions (Pressure Drop) looks for the roots of the song Pressure Drop (Toots and the Maytals, 1969) in cover versions by the likes of The Clash and Robert Palmer, extolling post-modernism’s rejection of originality.
