Performance as Publishing

— Eastside Projects / this is tomorrow

Take One / Take Two / Take Three

4 March – 6 May 2016

Take One / Take Two / Take Three was a broadcast project by Performance as Publishing hosted at Eastside Projects and broadcast by this is tomorrow. Over three events, nine new artists’ performances were staged to camera for broadcast in the presence of a live audience. The series played with the transposition of ‘liveness’ and the event in a digital context through framing and editing. Over the three events the works put forward different takes on repetition, transformation and accumulation.

The events were part of ‘Production Show’, 2016-2018: the first two events took place amongst Richard Woods’ exhibition ‘Duck Weave’, the second amongst a structure designed by Heather & Ivan Morison, and the exhibitions were open to the public during rehearsals. Between the live performances, a specially selected set of artist films were screened, chosen during Performance as Publishing’s residency at LUX Artists’ Moving Image. Films by David Hall, Maya Deren, Mark Leckey, Lis Rhodes, Louis Henderson, Cerith Wyn Evans, Rachel Reupke.
